Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) lost quite a bit of health in his fight for the WBC heavyweight belt against Tyson Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs). However, trainer Malik Scott assures that his protégé has no intention of hanging up the gloves on the nail.
"Deontay has ensured his family is financially well off and no longer needs boxing to make money, but he has no plans to end his career and we're not even talking about it," Scott told IFL TV.
"Deontay will return to the ring on his own terms. He's a fighter made for great fights and belongs in a different league than most other boxers. He needs the highest level of bouts and the main fights of the night," said the Bronze Bomber's mentor.
Deontay Wilder, according to his manager Shelley Finkel, may return to the ring in the middle of next year. In the meantime, the American will undergo surgery on a right thumb that was broken in his confrontation with Fury.
