Makhachev's rival for the fight at UFC 267 is announced

New Zealand UFC lightweight Dan Hooker has agreed to fight Islam Makhachev on October 30 at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi. ESPN journalist Brett Okamoto reports the news, citing the head of the promotion, Dana White.

Makhachev was originally scheduled to fight former champion Rafael Dos Anjos, but the Brazilian dropped out due to knee problems.

Makhachev, 30, is the fifth ranked fighter in the lightweight division with an impressively winning streak of five fights. The Russian had his last fight on July 17, winning by split decision over Tiago Moises.

The 31-year-old Hooker is currently ranked number six. On September 25, the New Zealander defeated Nasrath Hakparast on points.

UFC 267 will be headlineb by the Jan Błachowicz vs Glover Teixeira title fight.
