Gennady Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) and Ryota Murata (16-2, 13 KOs) have set the terms of a unification fight to be held December 28 in Kobe, Japan. The WBA and IBF middleweight titles are on the line.
The bout is to be broadcasted on DAZN, but its representatives have not yet given the green light for such a meeting. Both boxers had hoped to be able to box in the US at the turn of August and September. DAZN did not reach an agreement on that with Golovkin's team, so Gennady will have a one-year break in ring appearances.
In his last professional fight, which took place in December, GGG beat Kamil Sheremeta early. Murata last stepped into the ring in December 2019 with an early win over Steven Butler.
