Valdes has a tough win over Conceição on points
Oscar Valdes (30-0, 23 KOs) defeated Robson Conceição (16-0, 8 KOs) by unanimous decision of the judges in the main bout of the evening in Tucson, Arizona. After twelve rounds, the judges counted 117-110 and 115-112 in favor of the Mexican, who thus defended his WBC featherweight world title.
In the beginning of the fight, the Brazilian looked better, who outpaced his opponent with direct punches and won most of the rounds. In the middle of the fight Conceição slowed down and allowed the more active Valdes to come back into the match.
The other half of the fight turned out to be for Valdes. In the ninth round, the Brazilian lost one point for a punch to the back of the head. For the Mexican, it was the first defense of the title he won in February.
