Eddie Hearn has announced that a third fight Josh Warrington (30-1-1, 7 KOs) vs Mauricio Lara (23-2-1, 16 KOs) will probably take place as early as next year. Their rematch took place on Saturday night in Leeds, which after just two rounds was stopped due to an accidental head-to-head collision and a serious eyebrow injury to the Mexican.

"I think it could take a few months for this injury to heal. A third fight will definitely be waiting for the fans, but it will have to wait until next year," Hearn said.

"I'd like to see Warrington face someone soon. He needs to be active because he hasn't had many fights in recent years," the Matchroom Boxing head added.

It's not out of the question that Warrington will face Lee Wood (25-2, 15 KOs), who beat Zhang Xu in July to clinch the IBF world featherweight title. However, the Chinese may yet demand a rematch.
