Eric Molina's (28-7, 20 KOs) best days are behind him, but he still has name recognition and can expect solid offers. On August 28 in Mexico, Molina picked up his first win in two and a half years.
Overall, it couldn't have been otherwise, as he was opposed by Alejandro de la Torre with a record of 2-11, 2 KOs. But at one point it became scary for Molina's health when, early in the second round, the heavy Mexican loomed over Molina as he leaned on the ropes and the ring structure failed. The ropes tore and they both flew out of the ring. The fight was interrupted for several minutes. When the players returned to the fight, it was literally over within a minute. Molina landed a powerful punch on his opponent and recorded an "early victory" to his credit.
Molina is a two-time world heavyweight title challenger. He lost to Deontay Wilder (TKO 9) and Anthony Joshua (TKO 3).
CRAZY scene last night in Matamoros, Mexico as 44yr old heavyweight Alejandro de la Torre (2-11) rams 39yr old Eric "Little Drummer Boy" Molina (28-7) through the ropes in the 2nd!
