The IBF has ordered Teofimo Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) and George Kambosos (19-0, 1 KO) to be vaccinated against Covid-19 before a unified world lightweight title fight scheduled for October 5.

The bout was originally scheduled to take place in June, but was canceled due to Lopez's health issues. None of the boxers were vaccinated at the time.

To minimize the risk of a repeat of this situation, the participants must be vaccinated by September 7. The IBF thus wants to avoid a repeat cancellation of the fight, which is formally Lopez's mandatory defence of his title.
