Jaime Munguia (37-0, 30 KOs) and Sergei Derevyanchenko (13-3, 10 KOs) have been scheduled for a qualifying fight for the WBC middleweight title. The announcement was made by World Boxing Council president Mauricio Suleiman.

Jermall Charlo owns the champion belt in golden-green color in the weight limit up to 160 pounds. Derevyanchenko, 35, is second in the WBC rankings, although he hasn't won a fight in more than two years and lost to Charlo in his last appearance.

Munguia, who was previously the light middleweight champion, has had three fights in his new weight class. In his last appearance, the Mexican defeated Kamil Szeremeta by technical knockout. Munguia's team has been negotiating a fight with Gabriel Rosado for the past few weeks.
