The IBF is demanding a fight of Teofimo Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) and George Kambosos Jr. (19-0, 10 KOs) to be held in the United States. This decision was the result of a dispute between the American team and the Triller Fight Club, which proposed to organize an event in mid-October in Australia.
Australia's coronavirus pandemic restrictions will put additional obligations on Lopez, including a 14-day quarantine, which could interfere with training plans in the final stages of preparation. The boxer from the United States even began to threaten to leave the championship belt vacant, but the International Boxing Federation supported him.
Until recently, it was reported that the fight of Lopez and Kambosos, which was postponed several times, will take place in September. ESPN journalist Mike Coppinger claims that fans will have to wait until at least October for this fight.
According to unofficial information, Thriller's should have lost about $5 million due to the repeated postponement of the battle. These were expenses related to marketing, travel expenses and room reservations. The Triller owners paid $6 million for the rights to organize the duel.
