Dmitry Bivol (18-0, 11 KOs) assures that he is training and will be ready for the fight against Saul Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs) on September 18. The fight can take place in the super middleweight division.
The 30-year-old Russian has fought in the light heavyweight division since the beginning of his professional career, where he has a WBA championship belt, but claims that a duel in the lighter division will not be a problem for him.
Currently, Alvarez owns the WBA, WBO and WBC championship belts in the category up to 175 pounds. In recent weeks, his team has been negotiating the organization of a unification fight with IBF champion Caleb Plant, but in the end, the parties have not been able to come to agreement.
In May, Bivol returned to the ring after a year and a half break. In his last fight, the Russian defeated Craig Richards on points. At the moment, the 30-year-old boxer received a preliminary request for a fight with Canelo, but a specific proposal from the Mexican team has not yet been received.
