Joe Joyce (13-0, 12 KOs) retained his position as mandatory contender for the World Boxing Organization title after his victory over Carlos Takam for the WBO International and WBC Silver heavyweight belts.
The WBO title currently belongs to Anthony Joshua (24-1, 21 KOs), who will face Alexander Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs) on September 25. Joyce would like to cross gloves with the winner of the September bout.
"Now on my scope AJ or Usyk. I no longer need intermediate tests," said the Briton, who, in addition to Takam, also has victories over Daniel Dubois, Bermane Stiverne and Bryant Jennings.
It is possible that Joyce will receive his title fight no earlier than the winter of 2022, because the confrontation with Usyk is a mandatory title defense for Joshua.
