The fight of Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder, scheduled for July 24, was postponed to October 9 due to the fact that the Briton contracted the coronavirus. Wilder's girlfriend Telli Swift, however, believes that the WBC heavyweight champion was simply not ready to face the American and deliberately postponed the fight.
“Hard training, blood, sweat and tears. Then someone appears with Covid. Deontay's biceps were torn, his fingers were broken, his hands were burned, and he fought anyway,” said Swift, who believes that if someone has a coronavirus sixteen days before the fight, he should enter the ring.
“I think Fury is not ready and is buying some time. He feels that Deontay is on top, he sees it. Deo trains, eats and falls asleep thinking about Fury. He is ready for this, that's all he thinks about,” the Bronze Bomber's girl said.
Recall that Fury's first fight against Wilder took place in December 2018. After the dramatic battle, the judges counted a draw, and in a rematch in February 2020, the Briton stopped the American, forcing his corner to throw in a towel.
After the fight, Wilder accused Fury of fraud and conspiracy, which allegedly involved coach Mark Breland, with whom Wilder broke up with the scandal. After that, Wilder waited several months for a court decision on the third fight, which ultimately completely changed the situation at the top of the royal division. The fight between the "King of the Gypsies" and Anthony Joshua for all belts, scheduled for August 2021, faded into the background.
Joshua will now face WBO mandatory challenger Alexander Usyk in September, and Fury will enter the ring against Wilder for the third time.
