The beginning of 2022 is, according to Eddie Hearn, the closest possible date for organizing a fight for the undisputed heavyweight crown between Anthony Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs) and Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) at provided that both fighters win their bouts scheduled for the fall. Joshua is to meet Alexander Usyk, and Fury is to meet Deontay Wilder.
“We are fighting in September, so it will be difficult for us to get into the ring again in December,” Hearn said. "Now we are talking in this context about the turn of January and February. We're not even entirely sure if Fury and Wilder will have a fight in October. Who knows? But if it succeeds and Joshua defeats Usyk, they will both fight at the same time. Then we can start organizing a unification battle.”
Joshua's fight against Usyk is scheduled for September 25 in London. The confrontation of Fury and Wilder is tentatively scheduled for October in Las Vegas.
