Former longtime UFC light heavyweight leader Jon Jones believes his meeting with new heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou will take place for sure.

“I think this fight will happen. Hopefully, over time, the UFC will make the right decision. This is one of the greatest battles of our era, and it would be very sad if it did not happen. I believe that our fight will take place.

There is no backup plan. Whether I will fight Ngannou for the title, whether I will fight Derrick Lewis for the belt, whether Francis will hold his third or fourth defense against me - it doesn't really matter to me. My goal is to become the heavyweight champion of the world, and the opponent and the date do not matter,” Jones said in an interview with Fight Hype.

Jones previously stated that he was offered a $10 million purse for the fight with Ngannou, but he wants to get much more.
