Interim WBC Lightweight Champion Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) spoke about his plans for the future. The 22-year-old fighter said he was only interested in duels with Manny Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) and Gervonta Davis (24-0, 23 KOs).
“After my last fight, I said I wanted to fight Davis or Devin Haney. Everyone is much more interested in my fight against Davis, so I started promoting this fight and insisting on it on social networks,” the American explained.
“At that time someone from Golden Boy Promotions called me and said that I could meet Pacquiao. I posted a poster of this duel on Instagram, and the reaction was even stronger than the fight against Davis. This duel was not invented by me. People say that I am crazy and not ready for both of these opponents. This is a big challenge, but I want to accept it because the audience wants to see it,” Garcia said.
The Californian returned to the ring in early January after almost a year's layoff. Garcia knocked Luke Campbell out in the seventh round. Recently, there were speculations in the media that the next opponent of the American could be the former world featherweight champion Javier Fortuna.
