Negotiations are underway for a unification duel between the IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs) and the WBA champion Ryota Murata (16-2, 13 KOs). The fight is to take place in the spring in Japan.

Recently, Golovkin has also tried to meet Jaime Munguia. But it looks like the Mexican will eventually face Kanat Islam in his next fight at the pro ring.

Murata, 34, is a Top Rank boxer, and the fight with Golovkin could be made possible by an American promotional organization. The Japanese last fought in December 2019, when he defeated Stephen Butler by TKO in the fifth round.
