Talks of organizing a fight between Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) and Manny Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) are gaining momentum. As one of the advisers of the American Guadeloupe Valencia said, the fight could take place on April 24 or May 1. Earlier it was about organizing this event in September.
It is not yet known in what weight category this fight will take place. Garcia is a lightweight, while Pacquiao has his last fights in welterweights, where he currently owns the WBA championship belt.
The 42-year-old Filipino hasn't entered the ring since July 2019, when he defeated Keith Thurman on points. Most recently, in early January, Garcia won his first championship belt by defeating Luke Campbell. At stake in this meeting was the title of “interim” WBC champion.
