Hearn: We are close to signing contract for Alvarez vs Saunders fight

Eddie Hearn said in an interview with The Athletic that he is close to successfully negotiating with Saul Alvarez (54-1-2, 36 KOs) for a unifining super middleweight bout with Billy Joe Saunders (30-0, 14 KOs), which could take place in May.

In December, Canelo won the WBA and WBC titles, defeating Callum Smith on points. Saunders owns the WBO belt.

However, in order for Alvarez to cross gloves with Saunders, he must have a mandatory WBC belt defense with Avni Yildirim (21-2, 14 KOs) earlier in February or March.
