The bout of WBC featherweight champion Miguel Berchelt (37-1, 33 KOs) versus former WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez (28-0, 22 KOs) has been officially confirmed for February 20. The fight will take place as part of the next Top Rank event. Earlier this duel was scheduled for December 12, but Berchelt contracted the coronavirus.
The 28-year-old Berchelt has been the holder of the World Boxing Council title for three years. Last year, the Mexican had two fights, the last time in November he knocked out Jason Sosa. In June, Berchelt met Eleazar Valenzuela, stopped him in the sixth round, but the result of the fight was canceled by the decision of the Mexican government, which banned sports events.
Valdez left the featherweight title vacant almost a year ago and decided to change weight. In the new category, the 29-year-old boxer has already fought twice. In his last performance, he defeated Jason Velez.
