Former light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (34-4-1, 29 KOs) will return to the ring on January 30 at DAZN Boxing Night in the United States. The 36-year-old Russian is going to cross gloves with Sullivan Barrera (22-3, 14 KOs).

The duel was originally scheduled for April 25, but the meeting was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Later, the DAZN platform had trouble finding a budget for the return of Kovalev, who, under the contract, will earn $2.5 million for his next two professional performances.

For the Russian, this will be a return to the ring after last year's defeat to Saul Alvarez. The boxer's trainer from Russia announced earlier this year that Krusher may soon move to the cruiserweight division, but it seems that the boxer himself refused such a decision.
