A contract is currently under negotiation for a fight of Saul Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) and Callum Smith (27-0, 19 KOs). ESPN Deportes reported that the boxers have already reached an agreement. Smith's promoter Eddie Hearn corrected that a deal is close to being finalized and that he remains optimistic about it.

Canelo's fight with the Englishman can take place on December 18 or 19. Earlier, the Mexican team agreed to fight Caleb Plant at the Premier Boxing Champions evening on the same day. The fight was to be shown on FOX TV. But then the parties stated that they could not properly organize the advertising of the fight in such a short time.

The DAZN platform, which at one time was also going to broadcast the Alvarez-Smith duel, does not see such a problem now. Interestingly, the Mexican officially terminated a long-term contract with DAZN a few days ago and said that he did not intend to sign a long-term agreement with anyone. All arrangements will be valid for one performance only.

The last time both fighters competed last November. The fight will be held in the super middleweight category, and the stake there will be the WBA world title.
