The duel of Lipinets and Clayton declared as a draw

The fight of Sergei Lipints (16-1-1, 12 KOs) and Custio Clayton (18-0-1, 12 KOs) for the IBF interim welterweight title ended in a draw. After twelve rounds, the judges scored it 115-113 in favor of the Canadian and twice 114-114. The belt remained vacant and it is possible that a rematch will be announced soon.

Clayton started the fight better, was more active and hit well with a left straight. Lipinets focused on power punches and uppercuts. The statistics of punches after the fight was in favor of the Canadian boxer, but the judges counted a draw.

At the same evening, Subriel Mathias (16-1, 16 KOs) defeated Malik Hawkins (18-1, 11 KOs) via TKO in the seventh round. The 28-year-old boxer physically dominated his opponent and brought the fight to a stoppage.

Javier Martinez (16-0, 11 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Claudio Marrero (24-5, 17 KOs) in the featherweight eliminator. The 22-year-old boxer was knocked down, but survived, and after the final bell, the judges scored it 115-111 and 114-112 twice.
