Khabib believes Makhachev will become the next UFC lightweight champion

Khabib Nurmagomedov, UFC lightweight champion, believes his friend and teammate Islam Makhachev will be the next promotion champion in his division.

“Five years ago I was in the same situation as Islam Makhachev is today. Nobody wants to fight him. God bless, he's the next lightweight champion,” Khabib wrote on his Twitter.

Makhachev was supposed to fight Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 254, but the latter passed a positive test for coronavirus.
