Brekhus vs McCaskill rematch is on early 2021

Jessica McCaskill (9-2, 3 KOs) sensationally defeated Cecilia Braekhus (36-1, 9 KOs) on points in Tulsa on August 15, capturing IBF, WBA, WBO and WBC welterweight belts. The Norwegian immediately after the fight suggested that she would end her career, but quickly changed her mind and decided to use the rematch clause, which was included in the contract for the August fight. At the beginning of next year, the girls will have a rematch.

“This is the fastest returning from the retirement in boxing history! We knew she would return, it was only a matter of time. Talk of retirement and passing the torch usually serves as a distraction from defeat,” said McCaskill, who defeated the Norwegian by two scorecards while the third judge gave it a draw (95-95, 97-94 and 97-93).

“It was the weakest performance in my career. I still feel like I've won or drawn the fight, but I also feel like I can definitely win in a rematch. I don't want to end my career after such a fight, I have to give my fans a rematch. It's not that I lost to a stronger fighter, I was in good shape and did my best. So we'll have to cross gloves again,” said the First Lady.
