Dillian Whyte (27-1, 18 KOs) is the bookmaker's favorite for Saturday's interim WBC heavyweight title clash with Alexander Povetkin (35-2-1, 24 KOs). On average, the chances of the Briton win, according to bookmakers, are 1.25 compared to 3.75 for the Russian. But Anthony Joshua isn't sure his compatriot will win.
“I spoke to AJ and he doesn’t bet on Whyte at all. He thinks that Whyte can slip on a banana peel, and Povetkin is able to surprise," said Eddie Hearn in an interview to Sky Sport, recalling that "The Body Snatcher" has never avoided risk in his career.
“He has been waiting for his chance for more than 1000 days, which Povetkin can now pull out from under his nose. I don't want to believe that Whyte can take risks. As the leader of the rating, he fought Parker, Chisora, Rivas, and now he chose Povetkin," the head of Matchroom Boxing said.
In addition to the interim WBC title, the WBC diamond belt will also be at stake on Saturday's fight.
