McCaskill defeats Brekhus sensationally

Jessica McCaskill (9-2, 3 KOs) sensationally defeated Cecilia Brackhus (36-1, 9 KOs) in the main event of the evening in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After ten rounds, two judges gave the victory to the American 97–93, while the third saw it as a draw 95–95.

The duel from the first bell took place in a very fierce struggle. McCaskill, in her style, put pressure and attacked with powerful hooks. Brekhus tried to counterattack and avoid mid-range trades. After the first half of the fight, the American left the best impression. Then McCaskill slowed down a little, which allowed the Norwegian to make up some of the losses, but in the last minutes of the fight, the advantage was again for the boxer from the United States.

For Brekhus, this loss was the first in her professional career. The Norwegian also failed to break Joe Louis' record for the most successful belt defenses. Her streak ended with 25 wins. Now McCaskill is the new WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF Welterweight Champion.
