WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney (24-0, 15 KOs) is due to return to the ring on October 3 in the United States. This was announced by the American's promoter Eddie Hearn. Haney's rival will likely be Yuriorkis Gamboa (30-3, 18 KOs).
Haney, 21, won the interim WBC belt last September. He was later recognized as a full champion and last fought in November.
The American underwent shoulder surgery a few months ago, but has already returned to training. Next year Haney should face the winner of the planned fall duel of Luke Campbell and Ryan Garcia.
