Contracts for the fight of Vasyl Lomachenko (14-1, 10 KOs) and Teofimo Lopez (15-0, 12 KOs) may soon be signed. The bout for the title of undisputed lightweight champion is scheduled for October 3 in the United States.
Lopez did not want to accept the proposed financial conditions ($1.25 million), but Lomachenko extended a helping hand to him. The Ukrainian offered to give his opponent part of his purse in order to arrange a duel, which the fans are waiting for.
According to unofficial information, Lomachenko is ready to give up to 500 thousand dollars to Lopez. If that happens, the Ukrainian boxer will end up making about $2.5 million for the IBF, WBC, WBA and WBO title fight.
If the negotiations fail, the Top Rank is preparing a backup opponent for Lomachenko. It could be Puerto Rican Felix Verdejo.
