Valdez stops Velez in 10th

Former Featherweight Champion Oscar Valdez (28-0, 22 KOs) scored a stoppage tenth round win over Jason Velez (29-7-1, 21 KOs) in the Top Rank main event of the evening in Las Vegas. At the time of the stoppage of the fight, the Mexican was confidently leading on points.

Velez visited the floor three times before the fight was stopped. Valdez was in control of the battle from the start. The Mexican boxer is due to cross gloves with WBC Featherweight Champion Miguel Berchelt next.

As part of the same evening, Isaac Dogboe (21-2, 15 KOs) successfully returned to the ring. The former super bantamweight champion in his first appearance after two defeats to Emanuel Navarrete stopped Chris Avalos (27-8, 20 KOs) in the eighth round.

Edgar Berlanga (14-0, 14 KOs) knocked out Eric Moon (11-3, 6 KOs) in the first round and extended his streak of KO wins. The 23-year-old Puerto Rican completed all of his bouts on the professional ring in the first round.
