Finally, there is a new date for the fight, which has already been postponed three times, Derek Chisora (32-9, 23 KOs) against the former undisputed cruiserweight champion, now the official WBO challenger, Oleksandr Usyk (17-0, 13 KOs). Initially, the opponents had to meet in late March, and, probably, the organizers are waiting for the moment when the audience will be allowed to attend this fight.
“Oleksandr Usyk will meet Derek Chisora, probably in October. If Usyk wins, he must fight the winner of Anthony Joshua against Kubrat Pulev fight [the Bulgarian is IBF mandatory challenger and expects the date of the fight with the champion]. Usyk’s fight against Chisora will determine the opponent for AJ," said Joshua's promoter, the head of Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn.
Chisora recently announced that he was going to MMA (Bellator) if the postponements of his fight against the Ukrainian continue. It seems, however, that Del Boy, who in his last October battle stopped David Price, can more safely prepare for the battle now. Usyk last fought in October when he made his heavyweight debut, stopping Chazz Witherspoon. Therefore, both the Englishman and the Ukrainian before the fight are likely to be idle for a year.
