The prosecutor requires 3 years and 3 months in prison for former world middleweight champion Felix Sturm (40-5-3, 18 KOs). The former boxer is accused of tax evasion, but he is also tried for doping in 2016 in a fight against Fedor Chudinov.

Sturm is also accused of misdemeanour. According to prosecutors, Sturm, a German resident, used illegal doping drugs before fighting in boxing bouts. The verdict in his case is due next week.

Sturm's lawyer requires a two-year suspended sentence. The former world champion regrets that he avoided paying taxes, but does not admit that he deliberately took illegal doping. Sturm's defense is counting on an acquittal in the second part of the charge.

Sturm was arrested last April at the sports fair in Cologne. In December, he went on bail in the amount of 300 thousand euros.
