Garcia: I don't think Haney’s statement was racist

Ryan Garcia (20-0, 17 KOs) and Devin Haney (24-0, 15 KOs) were born in the same 1998. They met in amateurs, where the score of their meetings is 2-1 in favor of Haney, and now they are recognized professional rising stars. Their meeting seems inevitable. But not now, yet when both will become champions.

Haney recently made an ambiguous statement that "he will never lose to white boy." Golden Boy promotion star commented on a statement by a former teammate.

“We must respect each other, regardless the race, and determine which of us is better in the ring. I respect Haney and believe his statement was not racist. But for the benefit of this sport, we should all respect each other,” Garcia said.
