The fight of Murat Gassiev (26-1, 19 KOs) against Jerry Forrest (26-3, 20 KOs) which was scheduled for February 29 in Texas will not take place. Too many doubts, starting with the fact that Murat prepared insufficiently, ending with the questions about his contract," the representative of Gassiev's team said in an interview to TASS.
26-year-old Gassiev last fought in July 2018, losing on points in the final of WBSS cruiserweight tournament to Oleksandr Usyk. Later, the Russian decided to go up to the royal division, but on the way to return to the ring he's pursued by recurring injuries.
The main event of the February's evening of boxing in Texas will be a fight of the world champion in four weight categories Mikey Garcia (39-1, 30 KOs) against the former owner of belts in two weight categories Jessie Vargas (29-2-2, 11 KOs).
