On May 23 in London Derek Chisora (32-9, 23 KOs) will meet the former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (17-0, 13 KOs). This was announced by promoter Eddie Hearn.
The head of Matchroom Boxing also added that bout was initially planned for March but had to be postponed for a few weeks because of the elbow injury of the Ukrainian. Soon Usyk should return to full training mode.
It is already known that the Ukrainian and the British will not battle for WBO heavyweight title. The winner of this confrontation, however, will receive a mandatory contender status for Anthony Joshua's belt, who owns World Boxing Organization belt, and on 20 June faces Kubrat Pullev.
Usyk made his debut at the royal weight category in his last professional performance, defeating Chazz Witherspoon. Chisora last boxed in October, when he stopped his compatriot David Price.
