The New York Athletic Commission punished Ivan Redkach (23-5-1, 18 KOs) for the bite of Danny Garcia (35-2, 21 KOs) in a battle that took place on January 25 in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
In the tenth round the 33-year-old Ukrainian suddenly bit the neck of his opponent. Referee Benji Estevez, who served a duel, did not notice Redkach's faul, but the local committee didn't spare the Ukrainian.
Redkach was fined for $10'000 and suspended for one year. Thus, the boxer from Ukraine, who lost to Garcia on points, will return to the ring no earlier than next February.
