Former world heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. (33-2, 22 KOs) has received a formal proposal from Eddie Hearn on the fight against Dillian Whyte (27-1, 18 KOs). The bout could take place on March 28 or in early April on the British Isles.
For Ruiz it would be a return to the ring after a recent defeat at the hands of Anthony Joshua. The Mexican, who sensationally stopped the Briton in June, lost for the first time in three years.
Whyte returned to the ring in early December after disqualification for alleged use of banned substances. 31-year-old Whyte defeated Mariusz Wach, but looked far from his best form.
At the same time, negotiations are underway for a meeting of White with Alexander Povetkin. The possible fight against the Russian is also planned at the turn of March and April.
