It seems that Saul Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) will fight within the super middleweight division next. It is expected that the 29-year-old Canelo will return to the ring on May 2 in Las Vegas.
According to information provided by Eddie Hearn, Callum Smith (27-0, 19 KOs) and Billy Joe Saunders (29-0, 14 KOs) is now among the potential contenders for the Mexican. They both hold titles in the 168 pounds, one is WBA champion, and the other one holds WBO belt.
If Alvarez decides to choose some other rival, Smith and Saunders will have their next fights in the spring on the British Isles. The Mexican in his last fight made his debut at the light heavyweights and won WBO belt, which he has already managed to vacate.
