Alvarez leaves WBO LH title vacant

Saul Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KOs) left WBO light heavyweight belt, which he won in November by defeating Sergey Kovalev, vacant. In this case, Canelo has retained the status of WBO "super champion" and, if he wishes to return to 174, he will automatically receive a mandatory challenger status.

The Mexican also recently refused from the "regular" WBA super middleweight title and is now only WBA and WBC franchise belt holder in the middleweights.
