The former world champion in four weight categories Mikey Garcia (39-1, 30 KOs) will soon sign a contract with promoters of Matchroom Boxing. In the first quarter of next year, 31-year-old American will face Jesse Vargas (29-2-2, 11 KOs).
The bout will take place at welterweights, although Vargas recently tried his hand at junior middleweight division. For Garcia, it will be a return to the ring after last March's defeat to Errol Spence Jr.
Until recently Garcia was considered as an opponent for Manny Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs), but it looks like the Filipino will have to find another opponent. Eddie Hearn negotiated with the American signing a contract for a few months, and it seems that they were successful.
