Featherweight Stanchov met Albanian Ardit Murja (4-1, 2 KO). In the first round the fight was going absolutely normal until after seemed harmless punches suddenly the Bulgarian staggered back and fell into the corner of the ring.
Unfortunately, the video of the battle is assembled from several parts and it is not clear what happened in the moments before the fighter fell, and subsequent died, which occurred in the ring soon after the above mentioned situation, despite the efforts of the medical staff.
According to unofficial information, the cause of death was probably a heart attack, there are rumors about the impacts and that could get Stanchov when hanging on the ropes. Another theory for the problems with the "weight loss" faced by the victim that could cause extreme exhaustion and loss of consciousness. Circumstances of Stanchov's death are investigated, and hopefully, will soon known more about it.
Murja fight against Stanchov also acquires strange details. Initially, in the news of this case there was listed another boxer who died - the Bulgarian Isus Velichkov (0-5). Later it became known that Stanchov could use boxing license and medical clearance of Velichkov to get in the ring.
