Angulo defeats Quillin on points

Andrew Karlov Sept. 22, 2019, 1:07 a.m.

Alfredo Angulo (26-7, 21 KOs) scored a twelve round split decision win over former world champion Peter Quillin (34-2-1, 23 KOs) in the main event of the boxing evening in Bakersfield. After ten rounds the judges scored it 97-93 and 96-94 in favor of Angulo and 96-94 for Quillin.

The Mexican throughout the fight landed lesser punches than his rival, but they looked heavier and make a greater impression on his opponent. Several times Quillin had problems with balance, and Angulo dictated the pace of the fight. For the Mexican it was one of the most valuable victories in his professional career.

At the same evening Thomas Dulorme scored a unanimous decision win over Terrell Williams and undefeated Chris Colbert knocked out Miguel Beltran in the first round.
