Whyte vs Rivas is a WBC eliminator, but Wilder vs Fury first

Eddie Hearn told the details of the agreement with WBC on Dillian Whyte (25-1, 18 KOs) vs Oscar Rivas (26-0, 18 KOs) fight, scheduled for July 20 in London. At stake is the fight there will be the title of an "interim" WBC heavyweight title and mandatory challenger status to "full-fledged" belt, currently owned by Deontay Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KOs).

However, according to the resolution of the World Boxing Council, the winner of Whyte vs Rivas fight does not automatically become the next mandatory challenger for Wilder, because if Deontay defeats Luis Ortiz in a rematch, he still will have the right for voluntary defense against Tyson Fury (28-0-1 20 KOs). Mandatory defense of the title for "The Bronze Bomber" has to be held before May 18.
