Miguel Berchelt (36-1, 32 KOs) scored TKO victory after the sixth round over Francisco Vargas (25-2-2, 18 KOs), thus defending his WBC super featherweight title. It was the second victory of a 27-year-old Mexican over his compatriot.
Two years ago, Berchelt needed eleven rounds to beat Vargas. This time Vargas capitulated faster. From the very beginning, Berchelt seized the advantage and systematically smashed his opponent with precise punches on different floors. After the sixth round, Vargas corner made the decision to stop the fight. Thus, Berchelt defended the belt of the World Boxing Council for the fifth time.
