Abel Sanchez, who until recently was the coach of the former middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs), commented on the departure of the boxer from Kazakhstan, and said that he regards the situation as "loss of a son."
“He came in to pick up his things, we shook hands, he said he was going elsewhere, and we said goodbye. I wished him good luck, we did not quarrel, did not shout at each other - nothing like that. We are two adults, we make decisions and are responsible for them. When a young man reaches a certain level, new people and advisers appear around him. I feel that I have lost not only a friend, I seem to have lost my son and part of my life,” Sanchez said.
Recall that after the signing of a multi-million dollar contract with DAZN, Golovkin offered Sanchez 2% of each next purse. The coach agreed to a lower percentage, but demanded 4%. GGG did not agree with this condition, and will now look for a new coach. Golovkin is going to return to the ring on June 8.
