Unbeaten world title contender, Puerto Rico’s Felix ‘El Diamante’ Verdejo, was released from the hospital after suffering a motorcycle accident. The former Puerto Rican Olympian suffered the accident last Sunday, August 7, when he was riding on road PR-3 from Rio Grande to Carolina and lost control of his motorcycle after trying to avoid a bump on the road.

“I have definitely learned a big lesson. I’m not perfect. I’ll keep growing as a person and today I’m more committed than ever with my people and my career,” affirmed Verdejo.

“I want to thank Puerto Rico and all the boxing fans for all the messages of support during this difficult time, for worrying about me and for putting me in your prayers,” added ‘El Diamante’. “Thanks to God, I’m ready to keep on fighting, with scars that will make me remember this learning experience. I feel more mature, focused and anxious to bring to my Island the happiness of a world title,” finalized saying Verdejo.

“A painful and costly accident that will hopefully provide Felix and all young athletes life long lasting lessons. We sincerely appreciate the support & love he has received from his island and the boxing community,” said Carl Moretti, Vice President of Top Rank.

Verdejo, who has a professional record of 22-0, 15 knockouts, will take the time necessary to recover from his injuries and once he is fully recovered, he will resume his boxing career.
