Krassyuk: Usyk vs Povetkin fight is possible in future

Oleksander Krassyuk, the promoter of the WBC, WBO, and IBF cruiserweight champion Oleksander Usyk spoke about the possible fight of the Ukrainian with Alexander Povetkin.

“In January, immediately after the new year, my interview allegedly appeared, in which I stated that many heavyweights refused to fight Usyk, that there were literally two options left: either Perez, or Povetkin. In fact, it was fake information, I have nothing to do with it. But it spawned a wave, after which Usyk expressed a desire to box with Povetkin. Cool idea, great,” said Krassyuk.

“Then we met in the middle of January with Egis Klimas and Eddie Hearn in New York, and we discussed the candidacy of Alexander Povetkin. But our negotiations lasted for a long time. We have reached the stage when there was no time left for us. Therefore, we decided to meet Takam. After that, Povetkin expressed his consent when we had a definite agreement on Takam.

“Now it is impossible to make this fight, but this does not mean that the agreement on the next battle should go on the same scenario. I do not exclude that in the event of a positive development of events, Usyk will meet Povetkin.

“For the fight Usyk vs Takam May 25th is the most likely date. Two locations are considered - Chicago and MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, there Usyk, Lomachenko and Gvozdyk fought in one evening once,” said Krassyuk.
