A few hours before the UFC 234 tournament, middleweight champion Robert Wittaker withdrew from the fight against Kelvin Gastelum due to health problems. An Australian was diagnosed with a hernia, and he has already had surgery. According to UFC President Dana White, Robert began complaining of stomach pains late at night and was taken to hospital. His health problems, as doctors believe, are not related to weight loss.

Thus, the new main event of the UFC 234 tournament was the battle between the legendary former middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, and the bright prospect Israel Adesanya.
