On the undercard of the boxing evening in Frisco, Texas, lightweight rising star Teofimo Lopez (12-0, 10 KOs) scored a spectacular KO victory in the seventh round over former contender for the championship title Diego Magdaleno (31-3, 13 KOs). Three regional titles of NABF, NABA and USBA were at stake.
Before the fight, Magdaleno was considered to be a difficult test for 21-year-old Lopez, but a boxer from New York was so dominant in the first three rounds that commentators on ESPN began to seriously discuss whether Teofimo was ready for the fight against Vasyl Lomachenko now.
In the sixth round, Lopez was able to send Magdanelo to the floor with the left hook. The situation repeated in the seventh round and the fight was stopped at 1:08.
