Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum was on the beach with his family in Torrance, California, when he noticed two sinking teenagers. There was only one rescuer nearby, so the Brazilian decided to help him without hesitation.

“I said I was going to help, though my wife Karin said it was dangerous. There were two tiny heads screaming for help in the sea. They were far from the shore, about 70 meters. When the rescuer grabbed the board, I undressed and ran after him. I took an orange float and swam with it, even a little ahead of him. I told him to take the girl who screamed a lot, and I decided to take the boy, who was already exhausted. I grabbed him and swam to the shore. An elderly man helped us on the coast,” Werdum said.
