Ward requires large purse for comeback

Joe Gallagher, the coach of WBA Super middleweight champion Callum Smith (25-0, 18 KOs), told about the possible return in boxing of the former P4P leader Andre Ward:

“According to my information, Andre Ward wants an insane purse for returning. If this is true, then neither Usyk nor Smith will ever fight him. Although I think you can come to some kind of agreement.

Callum Smith’s fight against Andre Ward will be a louder event than Usyk-Ward fight. I understand Andre’s interest in a fight against Usyk for four cruiserweight belts. But Usyk, no matter how good a boxer he is, will never sell a stadium in any country - in Ukraine, in the United Kingdom or in the United States. The only possible stadium fight in this case is against Callum Smith at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool,” said Joe Gallagher.
